Just a few miles from the busiest theme parks of the world lies a quiet hidden treasure still within the city limits of Orlando, Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake.

A trip a few miles from the famous theme parks of Orlando will bring you to a natural and hidden treasure of the area, Turkey Lake Park. The 300-acre park’s winding road takes you to Turkey Lake and the natural beauty that surrounds the area. The shoreline remains natural with native flora and a few amenities added to help enjoy a day at the lake.

The park offers pavilions, several shade shelters, a fishing pier, a swimming pool, a volleyball court, a petting farm, limited horse boarding, an ecology center, a butterfly garden, bike and hiking trails, a playground, a ball fields, horseshoes, disk golf, dog park, R.V. camping sites, tent camping sites, and cabins.

Central Florida Camping and Cabins

There is a wide variety of camping in the park with primitive tent camping, R.V. camping with full hook-ups, group campsites, and cabins. The large cabins with bunks to sleep ten are made comfortable year-round thanks to air conditioning. All camping is located at the quiet lakeside end of the park.

Cabin camping is by reservation and fills early. Rates are very reasonable and under $40. Each cabin has air conditioning, 5 sets of bunk beds, and a small table with two chairs. Outside each cabin is a covered entry and a picnic table and grill nearby. Bathhouses complete with hot/cold showers and outside laundry sinks are close by.

Central Florida Freshwater Fishing and Swimming

Turkey Lake is a well-stocked lake wonderful for a day of fishing by the shore, pier, or boat. The park has a boat ramp for personal boats launched. Boat rentals are available. Lakeside, the park has a swimming pool and many pavilions, grills, and shade shelters.

Orlando Shopping and Theme Parks Nearby

The park is located on the west side of the city of Orlando and has most consumer needs within a few miles. Grocery stores, shopping, fast food, restaurants, and drug stores are all close by. The theme park attractions are within a short drive of the park and easily accessible.

Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake offers lots of respite for just a day or a great place to hide away for an extended stay. With its easy to access to the attractions and downtown Orlando, Turkey Lake Park offers a natural diversion with convenience.

The park is open year-round, seven days a week. Park hours from November to March are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from April to October from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. They offer discounted Youth Group Rates, Family Pass, and Individual Pass.
