Is Clearwater Beach Dog-Friendly?
A simple “no” is the official response. There is a dog ban on Clearwater Beach.
However, you frequently see dogs out for walks on the beach. Dogs are not permitted, and while we do not support breaking the law, it appears to be applied more seriously on Clearwater Beach’s south beachside. There are more dogs to be seen if you move to the north coast. There aren’t many dogs, but you’ll see them on leashes walking around the beach in the morning.
While it states that dogs are not permitted on Clearwater Beach, if you continue walking north into the neighborhood of North Clearwater Beach, you will see signs at the public beach access points stating that dogs must be on leashes there. Remember that there is no public beach parking in certain regions, so you would need to walk your dog on the sidewalk for a while to reach the area.
Please be aware of the regional dog laws if you are visiting the Clearwater Beach area with your dog. As long as the dog is on a leash, you can take it almost anywhere.
